Tooth Removal Cost

Tooth Removal Cost

Tooth Removal CostTooth removal may be recommended by your dentist Sydney for several reasons. It may be due to severe tooth decay or gum disease, pre-orthodontic treatment, retained baby teeth, or impacted wisdom teeth.

It is important to note that tooth extraction is always the last resort.

As dentists, we always strive to resolve any existing dental problem and preserve the natural teeth.

However, if a tooth can no longer perform its function or is the source of an infection that cannot be managed effectively, then it’s time to consider tooth extraction Sydney

Types of Tooth Extraction

There are two types of tooth removal Sydney. If the tooth being extracted is visible within the oral cavity, it is called a simple extraction.

During a simple extraction, the area will be numbed, and the dentist will loosen the tooth using specialised tools.

When the tooth is below the gums or is impacted, a complicated extraction may be necessary. This is done by making a small incision on the numbed area of your gums to gain access to the tooth below the gums.

There are also some cases when the tooth is below the bone so some bone removal will be necessary. After removing the tooth, your gums will be sutured back to place and allowed to heal for about 1-2 weeks.

Tooth Extraction Aftercare

After the tooth extraction, painkillers will be prescribed, and you will be given aftercare instructions.

You will also need to bite on to a gauze pad for 30 minutes after the procedure to control the bleeding. Ice packs can also be applied to the affected side of the face to reduce swelling and pain.

For the first 24 hours, make sure to have plenty of rest and fluids. Cold and soft foods, like yogurt, pudding, and ice cream, are also recommended for the first few days.

Smoking and strenuous activities are not advised after the procedure as they can prolong healing and can trigger bleeding.

Depending on the tooth extracted, it typically takes 7-14 days for it to heal completely. Most importantly, always observe good oral hygiene to avoid getting bacteria in the extraction site.

Regular tooth brushing and flossing should be continued, with extra care to avoid the extraction site. To clean this area, mouth rinses without alcohol are recommended.

How much is tooth extraction in Sydney CBD Dentistry?

The tooth extraction cost depends on the location of the tooth and the complexity of the procedure. A simple extraction costs around $230 whilst a complicated extraction can cost up to $450.

The use of either local anaesthesia or sedation also has a factor in the tooth removal cost. These are rough estimates and can be more accurately gauged upon clinical examination.

How Much Does a Filling Cost?

Dental Fillings Sydney – How Much is a Filling?

How Much Does a Filling CostDental fillings are among the most common dental procedures done in a dental clinic. It is the treatment option for cases of tooth decay or dental caries where a tooth is undergoing the active and progressive phase of the infection.

It is also for teeth that are fractured or malformed due to trauma or developmental defects.

So now, you must be thinking – “How much does a filling cost?”

The answer is, it depends. There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the tooth filling cost that you might need.

Position of the tooth within the mouth

Generally, dental fillings for teeth at the back of your mouth, also referred to as “posterior teeth”, are more expensive than those for your front teeth a.k.a “anterior teeth”.

Why? It’s because they are less accessible and thus, more difficult to treat.

On average, dental fillings for posterior teeth are around $10 to $25 costlier than those for anterior teeth.

Size of the cavity

There’s only one thing to remember here — the larger the cavity, the more expensive the tooth filling Sydney is. Just imagine that larger ones would take more time, effort, and material to fill the hole. Thus, it costs more.

Type of material

This part is kind of tricky but let’s focus on the most common teeth filling materials: Glass Ionomer, Composite Resin, and Composite/Porcelain Onlay.

Glass Ionomer is a tooth-coloured filling material that has two main advantages over other materials: First, it chemically bonds to enamel and dentin to help retain the filling better. Second, it is known to release fluoride that can help make your teeth more resistant to decay. On average, glass ionomer fillings cost around $150 to $350.

Composite is widely used today because of its ability to mimic natural tooth colour. It can also be used for small to moderate-sized defects with minimal tooth preparations. A composite filling costs around $150 to $350 as well.

In cases of large tooth defects, the best option is to restore with either Composite or Porcelain Onlays. Onlays have better physical properties and aesthetics because they are meticulously prepared in the laboratory. In addition, they can support and strengthen the remaining tooth structure. Onlay restorations cost around $650 to $990.

So basically, the dental fillings cost depends on plenty of factors. Most of which are determined by the clinical examination done by your dentist Sydney. Here at Sydney CBD Dentistry, your preference is also a big factor because we value your needs and concerns.
