Spark and Angel Aligner are two clear aligner systems that many practices offer alongside Invisalign. Both use removable, custom-made trays and treat a similar range of crowding, spacing and bite concerns. They differ in who makes them, the tray material and the planning features. At our practice, Spark and Angel Aligner are estimated at $500 less than Invisalign.

What they share
Both systems follow the same treatment path. You have an assessment and records, review a digital simulation of the planned movement, then wear each set of trays for most of the day, typically 20 to 22 hours. You move to the next set every one to two weeks, attend regular reviews and wear retainers afterwards. Neither system is invisible, and attachments may be bonded to some teeth.
Where Spark and Angel Aligner differ
The manufacturer
Spark is made by Ormco, a long-established orthodontic company that also makes brackets and wires. Angel Aligner is made by Angelalign Technology, founded in 2003 and headquartered in Shanghai, which focuses on clear aligners and supplies them internationally.
The tray material
Ormco says Spark’s TruGEN material is designed for clarity and stain resistance, with polished, scalloped edges. Angelalign describes masterControl S as a multi-layer material designed for steady force and tear resistance. These are manufacturer descriptions. How trays feel and look in practice varies between patients.
Planning features
Both systems let the dentist plan attachments and elastics. Angelalign also describes an Intelligent Root System, which can use 3D x-ray (CBCT) and scan data to model the roots and bone. Ormco’s Approver software lets the dentist add cut-outs, hooks and bite ramps. Not every case needs these features, and your dentist decides what your plan includes.
Which is better, Spark or Angel Aligner?
Neither is better for everyone. Both are established systems that can achieve planned tooth movement in suitable cases when the trays are worn as prescribed. We recommend a system after assessing your teeth, gums and bite, and explain the reasons. For some cases, fixed braces or a specialist orthodontist may be a better choice than any aligner.
