Angel Aligner and Invisalign are clear aligner systems that move teeth with a sequence of removable, custom-made trays. For suitable cases they work in the same way. They differ in the company behind them, the tray material and the planning software and features. At our practice, Angel Aligner is estimated at $500 less than Invisalign.
Below we compare the two and explain how we decide which to recommend. This is general information. Your own options depend on an assessment of your teeth, gums and bite.

How the two systems are alike
- Custom trays made from scans or impressions of your teeth
- Worn for most of the day and removed to eat, drink anything other than plain water, and clean your teeth
- Tooth-coloured attachments may be bonded to some teeth so the trays can guide them
- A digital simulation of the planned movement is reviewed before you start. It is a planning guide, not a promise of the final result
- Regular reviews during treatment, and retainers afterwards
How they differ
The company
Invisalign is made by Align Technology in the United States. Angel Aligner is made by Angelalign Technology, a clear aligner company founded in 2003, headquartered in Shanghai and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. It supplies aligners to dentists and orthodontists internationally.
The material
Angel trays use a multi-layer material Angelalign calls masterControl S. Invisalign trays use SmartTrack. Each manufacturer describes its own material as designed for steady, controlled force. How the trays feel varies from person to person.
Planning tools and features
Invisalign treatment is planned in ClinCheck. Angel Aligner treatment is planned in iOrtho, and Angelalign describes several features that can be built into a plan:
- angelButton: hooks built into the tray, used when elastics are part of the plan
- angelAttach: attachments designed to help the tray grip and guide particular teeth
- Intelligent Root System: a planning tool that can combine 3D x-ray (CBCT) and scan data to model roots and bone
Not every plan uses these features, and Invisalign has its own attachment and elastic options. Your dentist decides what your case needs.
Are Angel aligners as good as Invisalign?
For suitable cases, both are established systems that can achieve planned tooth movement when worn as prescribed. Neither is right for every patient. The quality of the diagnosis and plan, and how consistently you wear the trays, usually matter more than the brand.
Are Angel aligners cheaper than Invisalign?
Yes, by $500. Our current price guide estimates Invisalign treatment at $4,200 to $8,990 and Spark or Angel Aligner treatment at $3,700 to $8,490. Your fee depends on the complexity of your case, the number of aligners and any refinements. Your first clear aligner consultation is complimentary, and interest-free payment plans are available through external providers, subject to approval.
Risks to know about
Angel Aligner and Invisalign carry the same risks. These include soreness with new trays, temporary speech changes and gum irritation. Other risks are decay if hygiene slips, root shortening and movements that are not fully achieved. Treatment length can’t be guaranteed. Read more about treatment risks, recovery and alternatives.
