A Guide to Teeth Whitening
Teeth can change colour with age, food and drink, smoking, medicines or changes within the tooth. The cause matters when deciding whether whitening may help.
Whitening options
A dentist can discuss in-chair and dentist-supervised home approaches where appropriate. Treatment time, response and maintenance vary. Confirm which methods are currently available at Sydney CBD Dentistry.
What whitening cannot do
Whitening does not repair damaged teeth or treat gum disease. Existing restorations do not change colour in the same way and may look different afterwards. An exact shade change cannot be promised.
Risks and aftercare
Sensitivity and gum irritation can occur. Stop and seek advice if symptoms concern you, and follow the product and clinician instructions. Results can fade and further whitening may not always be suitable.
Professional cleaning may address some surface staining. Choosing no cosmetic treatment is also an option. Contact the practice for an individual assessment and current fees.
