Full Mouth Reconstruction

Full mouth reconstruction describes a coordinated plan to address several damaged, worn or missing teeth. It may combine restorative and other dental procedures. It is considered according to clinical need after examination, imaging where indicated and discussion of alternatives.

Planning care

Your dentist will discuss the condition of your teeth and gums, priorities, treatment stages and likely time and costs. Referral may be appropriate. Models or digital planning can help explain a proposal but cannot guarantee its outcome.

Risks and alternatives

Risks depend on the procedures involved and may include sensitivity, pain, infection, tooth or restoration fracture, nerve injury and treatment failure. Further treatment and long-term maintenance may be required. Alternatives can include a more limited plan, removable appliances, monitoring or no elective treatment where appropriate.

Recovery varies by procedure and some stages may require months of healing. Ask for an itemised plan and advice about ongoing care.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
